Northallerton were looking to kick-start their season in glorious conditions at The Calvert Stadium as they hosted Whitley Bay who had won one and lost one so far this season.

First-Half

A few changes were amongst the starting lineup for Northallerton Town with Anthony Snook returning from injury and debuts for both James Boucher and Joe Spalding.

There wasn't much to report from the earliest exchanges with only an attempted dink over the Whitley Bay keeper from Shaun Ryder to note. However, another slow start would come back to haunt Town.

Whitley Bay saw themselves take the lead through Jackson Ward who fired home after Town were unable to clear their lines from a corner.

Town were fortunate not to fall further behind as Whitley Bay had another great opportunity but Dawson was on hand to tip the effort wide.

Town weren't able to get their rhythm in the game at all and it was frustrating viewing for much of the 189 in attendance. However, there was another goal in added time of the first period.

Town would find an equaliser and perhaps against the run of play. Anthony Snook tapping in from close range after being picked out by Shaun Ryder.

Second-Half

Town did reappear for the second period looking more cohesive leading fans to believe there must have been some stern words during the interval. However, it would be another lapse in concentration that would allow the visitors to take control once more.

Malcolm Morien this time putting the visitors ahead as he converted a low cross fired in by the right hand side.

Town were looking to make amends and a first senior goal for Kyle Lancaster almost came to fruition but the York-loanee saw his effort come back off of the upright.

Town continued to push forward in search of an equaliser.

Nathan Stephenson went close in dying seconds, but Dan Lister made an excellent save, palming the ball over the bar just as Town thought they had snatched a draw.

Unfortunately Town couldn't muster the comeback and so far only have a solitary point to show for their efforts this season.
