Following on from the opening pre-season win over Knaresborough Town. Town made their first journey away from The Calvert Stadium to take on Redcar Town.

First-Half

Town started fairly positively, looking to build on their win over Knaresborough. Jack Stapley was causing issues down the Redcar right, winning a number of free-kicks in advanced positions.

It took over 10 minutes for the first chance to fall and it fell for Northallerton. The lively Jack Stapley took the ball on the left and began a mazy run inside beating two Redcar defenders before striking at goal but it was well handled by the goalkeeper,

The next big opportunity again fell for Northallerton with Luke Jones seeing his goalbound effort held on the line following a nice knockdown by Micky Rae.

As the half progressed Redcar started to gain more of a foothold in the game, firstly having a promising bit of play result in Crust having to make a vital block to prevent a shot and then Dawson having to pull off a fine save to keep things goalless.

The game then trickled out into a bit of a stalemate as both sides were fighting for the upper hand and there was no-more action before the half came to a close.

Second-Half

A single change was made at HT from Northallerton as Jackson came on to replace Trialist A.

It was Redcar who started the second period better, with Northallerton having to put bodies on the line early doors to prevent shots on Dawson's goal.

With many changes in the offing from both sides, the overall tempo and urgency of the game dropped somewhat and chances were at a premium.

That was before Redcar took the lead. A lapse in concentration allowed Josh Elcoate in to fire past Dawson.

Following the goal pressed for an equaliser, Luke Jones had a few opportunities fall his way but was unable to convert. Jack Stapley then had a good effort saved well by the Redcar Keeper and Ryder's follow-up effort was deflected wide.

The big talking point that followed was the award of a penalty for the hosts... Which was converted by Joe Bennett.

With time running out the game filtered out with chances once more coming at a bit of a premium. Full-time.
