Northallerton travelled across the Humberside to start their FA Cup campaign and to kick-start their season by gaining that all-important first win.

Their hosts for the game were North Ferriby FC, a phoenix club rising from the former Conference North side North Ferriby United and currently ply their trade in the NCEL Premier Division at the same step as Town.

First-Half

It would be fair to say the game started off quickly and we had an opening goal within the first 2 minutes.

Danny East was adjudged to have been fouled in the act of shooting and Ferriby were awarded a penalty which East converted himself giving the hosts an early lead.

Memories of Ashington were afoot with Ferriby peppering chances towards the Town goal, with the scoreline remaining the same. Town did have a chance of their own with Charlie Graham heading wide courtesy of a Stephenson set piece.

The hosts began to turn the screw as the half wore on and were putting a lot of pressure on the defence. Unfortunately, the defence was breached once more.

Danny East once again the man on the scoresheet as he headed home from inside the area as he doubled the advantage.

Perhaps sensing a shift in momentum, Ferriby were pushing for another goal which would amplify Town's misery but again the goal just wasn't arrived. Saves and efforts sent off-target came and went as the half drew on but once more Town managed to survive unscathed.

Town did have the ball in the back of net on the stroke of half-time but the ball was adjudged to have been out of play in the buildup. Another opportunity presented itself in the 4th minute of added time which saw Jack Stapley send his effort over the bar.

Half-Time: North Ferriby 2 - 0 Northallerton Town

Second-Half

Town had a slight chance from just after kick-off, with Kyle Lancaster causing trouble and finding space to whip in a cross but unfortunately nobody in a Town shirt was able to get on the end of it.

Substitutions for both sides slowed the tempo of the game somewhat and it took until just shy of the hour mark for the next highlight.

And a highlight it would be. Unfortunately, for Town it was another goal conceded but nothing can be taken away from the strike.

Danny Emerton cut inside from the wing and curled a wonderful effort into the top corner.

From then on Ferriby were comfortable in their lead with Town looking a little deflated following the goal. Town did muster some attacking intent towards the end of the game but it wasn't enough to cause any real concern for the hosts.

Full-Time: North Ferriby 3 - 0 Northallerton Town
