Northallerton and Boro Rangers shared the points in a hard-fought opening-day encounter in the Ebac Northern League.
The visitors would their first-ever game at this level after winning the Second Division title last season. Town were looking towards a more promising season following a rebuild over the summer.
The opening exchanges of the game were rather scrappy as both sides were looking to get a foothold into the game. The visitors however were looking dangerous on the break and perhaps should have found themselves ahead after 12 minutes.
Boro Rangers broke forward and Daniel Lofts was through on goal however he was perhaps guilty of taking too long to get his effort at goal and Dan Flounders was on hand to make a vital block.
Town would go close themselves after the 20-minute mark. A cross in from the left-hand side was headed clear it only fell as far as Ste Roberts who after a spectacular goal against Richmond last week, hit a sweetly struck volley and it skimmed the bar.
The visitors would continue to cause problems on the break, with Dan Flounders again having to be alert with some last-ditch defending with the whole of the Town backline standing strong.
There were chances for Town as the half was played out, Hopson saw a pull-back from Dicicco saved following a risky back pass from the Boro Rangers defence before a Hopson set-piece met the head of Craig Hutchinson whose flicked header went wide.

The second period would get underway and follow the same pattern as the first. Town had come back into the game and were trying to press the home advantage.
Clear chances were again at a premium in a game that was lacking a spark of quality throughout. Various decisions and changes from both benches culled the momentum somewhat and a Jack Connor effort from range with around 20 to play the only stand-out moment for Town.
However, the game was to get a moment of quality with around 10 minutes to play. The visitors worked a nice bit of play which resulted in Owen Clarkson cutting in from the right and unleashing an unstoppable effort past Ben Fairless.
Town would kick into high gear following the goal and would put the visitors under prolonged pressure. This would pay dividends when Jamie Davis was fouled as he ran through on goal and a penalty was awarded. Dale Hopson duly converted the spot kick to draw level.
