Interview | Luke Jones

Updated: Jun 28, 2022

We grabbed our new signing for a quick chat after his announcement earlier in the month and following his goalscoring debut against Ashington.

"Hi Luke, first of all, welcome to Northallerton Town! Thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions.

Q) How does it feel to finally have the deal completed and you've joined up with the club?

I'm buzzing to have got the deal sorted, and I can't wait to join up with the lads and staff here.

Q) What made you choose Northallerton, and was there anything that made you want to sign this deal?

I'm fairly local as a York lad, and I wanted to join as Northallerton is a great club and they play at a good level of football where I feel I can push myself.

Q) What would say the fans at Northallerton Town can expect from you as a player?

I'm a hold-up striker mainly, I like to combine with my teammates whilst also getting in the box and on the end of crosses. I love a good battle with defenders as well!

Q) What are your aims and ambitions for you during your time here at Northallerton?

My aim at Town is simply to win. I know the club are currently in relegation battle so every win is vital, but I would also like to develop as a player, experience the men's game, score some goals and to leave as a better player at the end of my stay.

Q) I think it would be an understatement to say you've had a quiet start to life as a Northallerton Town player! How do you put a debut like that into words?

It's hard to put that performance into words. The lads dug deep and kept a hold of the game. Our performance showed that we deserve to be much higher in the league table and it's great to have come off the bench and made an impact in sealing a vital win for the team.

Q) It only took you 2 minutes to score your debut goal, how does it feel to open your account early on for the club?

Honestly, it's an unreal feeling! You always want to score as striker but when it's a goal that seals a win in a vital game, it's just that bit better.

Q) And finally is there anything you'd like to say to all the Northallerton Town supporters?

Simply put, the club deserves to stay up and I'll do everything I can to help the team build some momentum and put some wins together to help us achieve this.
