Warm Welcome to Oli

Warm Welcome to Oli

Graham Bell

We're delighted to welcome former Middlesbrough FC Academy goalkeeper Oli Swan to Northallerton Town.

Oli, 22, has represented Boro U-21s and gained first-team experience on a pre-season trip to Portugal. He is joining on a dual registration with Whitby Town, having also had spells at Boro Rangers, Guisborough Town and Billingham Town.

"I'm really excited to be here," he says. "Northallerton's a big club. I know Jamie Poole from Billingham Town and also a lot of the lads, such as Mackenzie Crooks, who I played with at Boro Rangers.

"It's important to get a good start to the season and I think we have the toughest first three games of any club (against Whitley Bay, Bishop Auckland and North Shields). But I'm impressed by what I've seen of the squad.

"I'm ambitious to go as far as I can in the game after leaving Boro. It was the best feeling to sign a pro contract with them but you have to be pretty special to get into the first-team squad and I was always realistic about that."

Manager Jamie says: "Oliver is a top 'keeper who played for me for a bit at Billingham before he moved to Boro Rangers. He’s had loads of interest in leagues above and decided to come to us, which is a massive plus with the qualities he brings.

"We have two top 'keepers now that I hope will push each other and also give confidence to the squad."
