Norton, 23, played in central defence in the 2-2 draw with the Seasiders on the opening day of the season and can also play at right-back. He impressed during the warm-up programme and is comfortable bringing the ball out of defence.

He played under Northallerton manager Jamie Poole at Billingham Town and also had a spell at Tow Law.

"I feel I've settled in really well," he says. "I had some interest from other clubs but I'm enjoying my time at Northallerton and I'm looking forward to playing my part this season."

Manager Jamie says: "Norton came in during pre-season and did really well. He’s strong, fast and always gives 100 per cent. HIs attitude is excellent."
