James is no stranger to playing in the black and white of Northallerton as the former Town, Huddersfield and Darlington youngster made seven appearances in the 2014/15 season. James also had playing experience for the likes of Darlington and Darlington RA before joining up with Richmond last season.

James on signing for Northallerton:
