Eddie's Back To Boost Town

Eddie's Back To Boost Town

Graham Bell

Young striker Eddie Thomas is determined to make the most of his second chance with Northallerton.

The 23-year-old made his second debut for Town in the midweek defeat at Shildon and led the line impressively at centre-forward. Tall and powerful, he boasts excellent hold-up play and can point to an impressive goals pedigree.

Eddie scored 18 goals in Newton Aycliffe's promotion-winning season of 2022-23 and enjoyed game time at several clubs - mostly on short-term loans - including Newcastle Benfield, Dunston, Crook, Marske United, Guisborough Town and Whitley Bay before joining Northallerton from Whickham in late November 2024.

He also represented England Universities, featuring in the summer 2024 Home Nations tournament against Scotland and Wales. On joining Northallerton, he made four appearances, scoring a solitary goal in a 3-2 home defeat to West Auckland, before moving to his hometown club, Consett.

"During my first time at Northallerton, I was studying at Northumbria University and travelling was one of the things that limited my playing opportunities," says Eddie, who is employed as a quantity surveyor. "Having finished university, I'm more focused and really excited to be back.

"I just want to play games and score goals. The positive thing for me is that this is a signing rather than a loan, which I'm very pleased about."

Eddie's arrival boosts manager Jamie Poole's attacking options, and we wish him a very warm welcome to Northallerton Town.
