Colin, 56, takes charge immediately and will be in the dug-out for the first time when Town travel to West Auckland on Friday.
He is a vastly experienced coach and manager with spells in the hot seat at Blyth Spartans, Bishop Auckland, Crook, Jarrow Roofing and Consett. He has also assisted at Shildon and Brandon and served as Director of Football at Washington.
“I’m delighted to be appointed to a club like Northallerton, who have always impressed me as very stable and well-run,” says Colin. “Those were important factors in my decision to come here.
“My first priority is to help the club stay in the Northern League First Division. We have to play five of the top six clubs in our remaining fixtures, so it will be tough – but it’s definitely achievable.
“I’m looking forward to meeting the players at training tomorrow night and then giving it a really good go at West Auckland on Friday. I’ve got a good idea of strengths and weaknesses and if extra bodies are required, we’ll look at that as soon as possible.
“I know a couple of the lads already and I’m really looking forward to working with them and bringing the best out of the squad.”
Colin’s backroom team will be announced in due course.
Town chairman Jason Bleanch says: “Colin really impressed us with his ambitions for the club. He has huge knowledge of the Northern League and we wish him a very warm welcome to Northallerton Town.”
